MOD - Recreation

MOD ( Mass participation; Opportunitiy and access; Development and growth )-Recreation

The Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport in the Western Cape, has established a 10 year program to provide every disadvantaged school in the Western Cape Province with a sustainable recreational programme.

The Aim of these centres is to:
  • Action the Research for the Pilot Project
  • Promotion of Recreation
  • Positive activities for school-going children
  • Potential Career paths
These centres are based in the following 5 venues:
  • Sentinel Primary School, Hout Bay
  • Hout Bay High School, Hout Bay
  • Hillwood Primary School
  • Lavender Hill High School
  • Fairmount High School, Grassy Park
MOD-Recreation hosts the following activities:
  • Sport ( various sports activities );
  • Dance ( Various: Hip Hop, etc.); and
  • Music ( Vocals and Poerty/Lyric writing).
These activities take place after school hours which is an extension for tall interested students.

Further roll-out of these centres starts in April/May 2011, where 1 High and 1 Primary School per District will be created.
